It isn’t really astounding to discover that the global skin care market is valued at around 140 billion and is on the rise. Skin is in! And so is youthful skin. You see young faces and photo shopped complexions advertising skin creams, lotions, serums and revitalizers promising flawless perfection—for $120.

Organic products are also gaining awareness as well as the Do-It-Yourselfers filling glass bottles with anything but harmful chemicals in their kitchen. And there might be something to this. Many of the store-bought products on the market today contain harmful chemicals that are known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. That hardly paints a picture of glowing good health!

Keeping your skin moisturized and protected from UV rays, free radicals, oxidative stress, pollution and the signs of aging doesn’t have to cost you big bucks. Natural beauty is simple. Stay close to nature and you’ll likely find your glow!

Here’s a list of natural plant oils packed with vitamins, phytonutrients and moisture-promoting goodness to help your skin look healthier and younger.

Avocado oil:

Avocado oil is naturally high in vitamins A, D and E, all of which provide your skin with moisture and help protect you from UV rays. It’s a natural sunscreen! Avocado oil has up to a 15 SPF protection on its own. This makes it a great daytime oil to incorporate into your beauty routine.

Avocado oil also contains potassium, lecithin and other nutrients that nourish skin. Oleic acid, for example, helps stimulate collagen production.

Want more glow and clearer skin? Avocado oil might be for you. It also has anti-inflammatory properties for those of you with acne-prone skin. It can work wonders on psoriasis, rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Coconut oil:

Choose unrefined coconut oil. The refined is processed and may contain added chemicals. Go natural! The unrefined smells like coconuts, since it’s made by simply pressing the inside, edible part of a coconut. Cold-pressed oil contains more fatty acids and beneficial plant compounds for the skin.

Coconut oil is great at reducing inflammation and preventing infection, so it’s a wise option for acne or inflamed skin. It also helps prevent damage caused by free radicals.

Coconut oil is thick, and can create a protective barrier on the skin, helping to seal in moisture. It’s a perfect oil for chafed skin and dry climates with little to no humidity.

Its claim to fame is helping to promote collagen production due to its lauric acid content. Therefore, coconut oil may help keep your skin firm and eliminate sagging and wrinkles. Add a bit of lemon juice to your coconut oil and it’s also  effective for lightening dark spots and acne scars.

Jojoba oil
:

Jojoba oil is loaded with vitamin E, which makes it a powerful antioxidant. Live in a big city with exposure to pollution? Jojoba oil fights free radicals and oxidative stress, providing a protective barrier between your face and the world.

Jojoba oil stays fresh a lot longer than other oils. It has a shelf life of about 5 years—most other oils will maintain their freshness for six months to two years.

If you have oily skin that is prone to breakouts, you might want to reach for jojoba. This oil is most like your natural sebum and actually helps regulate sebum production, which can reduce your bouts of breakouts and blackheads.

Jojoba oil is a solution for mature skin, too, since it helps promote collagen production.

Hemp oil:

Hemp oil contains both oleic acids and linoleic acid that promote healthy skin and reduce the signs of aging. As a humectant, it brings moisture to the skin, but it also locks in hydration.

Hemp oil naturally reduces inflammation and helps sooth inflamed skin. It’s also a great option for acne-prone skin. It’s versatile for all skin types!

Being rich in both Omega 3s an 6s, it is known to help with many inflammatory skin conditions—acne, psoriasis, eczema and lichen planus. It also helps promote healing when it comes to skin infections.

Not sure which oil to choose? The good news is you don’t have to choose! Avocado oil is a perfect choice for a day moisturizer under makeup due to its SPF power. It’s easily absorbed by the skin (don’t slather it on—a little goes a long way), so you won’t feel greasy all day.

You can combine oils to create one with superpowers for nighttime use. Coconut oil on its own is an excellent choice as a night moisturizer, as well.

The health of our skin also comes from within. Be sure to drink plenty of clean, filtered water and eat fruits and vegetables that are full of hydrating vitamins and nutrients. Avoid refined carbohydrates, dairy and sugar which are extremely inflammatory to your system and will “show their face” on your skin!

Notice fine lines and wrinkles, age spots and a bit more jowl? Supplementing with Oligonol may help tackle these visible aging issues.
