America’s Microwave Addiction

Seventy percent of Americans say convenience is the major factor when deciding “What to make for dinner?” The Good Morning America TV survey found that convenience outranked taste, nutrition and even price!

So, it’s not all that surprising microwave ovens are found in over 90 percent of American homes. Families love them, because they are a huge convenience: Food is heated in seconds. Forgot to defrost? No worries, a microwave will defrost in minutes.

Most are unaware of microwave dangers. In Dr. Lita Lee’s book, Health Effects of Microwave Radiation — Microwave Ovens, she states every microwave oven leaks electro-magnetic radiation, harms food and converts substances cooked in it to dangerous organ-toxic and carcinogenic products.

Decreased Food Value

1. Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food are reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit.
2. The human body cannot metabolize (breakdown) the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
Biological Exposure
3. Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long-term, permanent, brain damage by shorting out electrical impulses in the brain (de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue).
4. Immune system deficiencies occur through lymph gland and serum alterations.
5. Infertility: Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.
6. The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual (long-term, permanent) within the human body.

Be Aware
Obliviously, the more often you eat microwaved food, the more in danger you are for health concerns. When you eat out, just assume you’re eating food which has been microwaved. When you use a microwave:

  • Stand at least arm’s length from the microwave when it’s in use.
  • Never use a microwave if the door is compromised.
  • Never warm baby’s bottle in a Microwave. Microwave cooking uses an entirely different process than an external, non-electromagnetic heat source: the water molecules within food are vibrated in a field of intense electromagnetic energy. On theory alone we should be cautious about microwave cooking, but there haven’t been many scientific studies on the subject. Researchers discovered microwaving infant formula for 10 minutes altered the structure of its component amino acids in ways that could possibly result in functional, structural and immunological abnormalities in infants consuming it. One of these altered amino acids has been proven to be toxic to the kidneys, liver and nervous system. {Lancet 189; 2:1}
  • Never heat food in plastic containers in a microwave.

Break The Microwave Habit
Go cold turkey! Throw the thing out! The microwave habit can be difficult to break. If it’s not in your kitchen, you won’t be tempted to use it. You family’s health is worth the few extra minutes one might save using a microwave. Reheat your food on the stove. Invest in a toaster-oven for those quick oven re-heats. I purchased a small teapot that’s perfect for making a single cup of tea. The surprise:  It doesn’t take any more time than the microwave did!
